This piece was created in Newport, OR in the winter 2016. The winter storms the year before washed up a lot of high tide, then the algae and debris cooked all summer long creating a coat of color on the sand. The day I made this there was a big freeze and small freshwater puddles gave me sheets of ice up to 18" to play with. I was cold, it took hours, and I was happy.
